TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer has retained and promoted assistants Freddie Roach and Robert Gillespie.
DeBoer introduced Wednesday that Roach, the Crimson Tide’s line of defense coach, will function affiliate head coach. Gillespie will stay as operating backs coach with the added title of assistant head coach.
Each assistants labored underneath DeBoer’s predecessor, Nick Saban.
“After assembly each of those guys, it was very clear to me that maintaining Freddie and G as a part of the workers was going to be essential to our success,” DeBoer stated. “These guys have nice relationships with our gamers, are excellent recruiters and have confirmed to be among the greatest coaches within the nation.”
Roach performed for Alabama and has spent the previous 4 seasons as a Tide assistant. Gillespie is approaching his fourth yr in Tuscaloosa.
The monetary phrases are awaiting approval by the Board of Trustees.
Two of DeBoer’s former Washington assistants, offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb and offensive line coach Scott Huff, left for a similar jobs with the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks.
