SAN DIEGO — The Houston Astros put outfielder Ben Gamel on the 10-day injured record Tuesday due to a damaged left leg, three days after he bumped into the wall at Angel Stadium whereas making a operating catch.
Gamel will probably be out indefinitely, based on the membership, which leads the AL West.
He was picked up off waivers from the New York Mets on Aug. 20 and was hitting .259 since then, with one homer and 4 RBIs. He had began 18 of the 20 video games he performed with the Astros.
To fill his roster spot, catcher César Salazar was recalled from Triple-A Sugar Land. That is his third time with the massive league squad and he is hitting .304 with eight RBIs in 10 video games.
