ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Chicago Cubs right-hander Ben Brown was positioned on the 15-day injured listing on Tuesday with a left neck pressure.
Brown, who was acquired in an August 2022 commerce with Philadelphia, made his main league debut on March 30 at Texas. The 24-year-old rookie is 1-3 with a 3.58 ERA in 15 video games, together with eight begins.
The IL stint was made retroactive to Sunday, a day after he allowed three runs and three hits in 4 innings in a 4-3 loss at Cincinnati.
“He is been type of battling this during the last couple weeks,” Cubs supervisor Craig Counsell stated. “So we despatched him again to Chicago to get some extra exams to determine what’s going on.”
Proper-hander Colten Brewer was reinstated from the 15-day IL earlier than Tuesday evening’s recreation at Tampa Bay. Brewer, who had been sidelined by a low again pressure, has a 3.09 ERA in seven reduction appearances with Chicago this season.
Cubs infielder Nico Hoerner had an intensive batting observe session and will begin on Wednesday evening. Hoerner hasn’t performed since Friday’s 3-2 loss on the Reds due to a small right-hand fracture.
“Nico is doing good,” Counsell stated. “We’re optimistic so long as no swelling exhibits up, he’ll be within the lineup.”
Proper-hander Yency Almonte (proper shoulder pressure) had a bullpen session, and fellow reliever Adbert Alzolay (proper forearm pressure) resumed taking part in catch at 60 toes on Monday’s off day.
