Defenseman Marc Staal introduced his retirement after 17 seasons within the NHL on Thursday and joined the New York Rangers as a participant growth assistant.
In his new job, Staal will work with defensemen all through the group. His retirement as a participant comes roughly one month after his older brother, Eric, formally hung up his skates after 18 NHL seasons.
Marc Staal, 37, performed his first 13 seasons with the Rangers after he was chosen by the workforce with the twelfth total choose of the 2005 NHL Draft.
