Ed Gulyas, a key working again for Notre Dame from 1969-71, handed away lately on the age of 73.
Gulyas, a local of Oklahoma Metropolis, died peacefully at house on Kiawah Island, S.C., in keeping with his obituary. Within the remaining years of his life, he had been troubled with progressive supranuclear palsy, a neurodegenerative mind illness.
Notre Dame soccer acknowledged his dying on social media earlier right this moment.
“We’re deeply saddened by the passing of Ed Gulyas. We ship our condolences to his household and mates,” the official Notre Dame soccer X/Twitter account stated Monday afternoon.
Gulyas, who performed highschool soccer in California, walked on to the Preventing Irish soccer group in 1968 and have become a valued contributor.
In three seasons of motion, he rushed for 774 yards and eight touchdowns on 177 carries, including 205 yards and two touchdowns on 12 receptions.Â
Gulyas’ finest season got here in 1970, when he led Notre Dame in speeding yards (534) and was fourth on the squad in receiving yards with 189. Throughout his years with this system, Gulyas helped the Irish compile a 26-5-1 document, two journeys to the Cotton Bowl and a pair of high 5 finishes within the AP ballot.
Gulyas is survived by his spouse, three sisters, 4 sisters-in-law and varied nieces and nephews.
