Tennessee linebacker Elijah Herring, the crew’s main tackler final season, introduced that he’ll enter the switch portal.
“I might wish to thank Coach (Heupel) and the College of Tennessee for the chance to play in my residence state,” Herring posted on X, previously often known as Twitter, on Monday. “I recognize all of the assist from the whole employees, my teammates and followers. I’ve determined to enter the switch portal and pursue different school alternatives. Love The Vols!”

Final season, Herring led the Vols with 80 tackles, together with 4 for a loss, as a sophomore. He began 12 video games at center linebacker after starter Keenan Pili, a BYU switch, suffered a season-ending damage within the 2023 opener.
Herring was restricted in spring follow by accidents, and the return of Pili put his beginning place in jeopardy. However, Herring was a productive defender who had performed all 26 video games of the previous two seasons since signing within the 2022 recruiting class out of Riverdale in Murfreesboro.
His youthful brother, Caleb Herring, is a defensive finish at UT and beforehand the top-rated recruit within the state of the Tennessee within the 2023 signing class.
