SEATTLE — Umpire Jim Wolf was pulled for precautionary causes in the course of the fifth inning of Wednesday’s recreation between the Kansas Metropolis Royals and Seattle Mariners after taking a foul ball off his facemask.
Wolf was checked by the remainder of his umpire crew and a member of the Mariners athletic coaching workers between the highest and backside of the fifth inning. Wolf was hit by the foul ball within the high half of the inning. After dialogue, first base umpire Ryan Blakney went into the clubhouse to placed on protecting gear and Wolf left the sector.
The sport continued after a delay of about 10 minutes with simply three umpires. Seattle led 2-0 on the time of the change.
Wolf has been a full-time umpire within the majors since 2004.
